My Facebook Trim

02.07.08 | View Comments

Last two weeks was kinda busy. Then I am going to have a short holiday for celebrating Chinese New Year. So, my blog post is expected to be slowed down a little bit.

Last week I also removed all the applications on my Facebook. Why? Because after reading an article “Facebook Applications Revealed” on the Hacker Quarterly for a couple of hacks on Facebook, I was quite surprised to know that the security of many third party Facebook’s applications were designed so poorly.

For example, by simply altering “fb_sig_ussr” field in the Super Wall application (using some handy hack tools), it is so easy to spoof a message using some other person’s identity. Smiliar secruity flaw is found on the Moods application and a couple more.

And then I also read another piece about the Facebook’s CIA ties. The capital link with IQT, (In-Q-Tel), a venture capital firm that invests in high-tech companies for the sole purpose of keeping the CIA in pace with the latest in information technology; plus another Facebook’s board member, Peter Thiel, a hedge fund guy and also the co-founder of PayPal, also an activist with TheVanguard.Org, also the co-author of the book, The Diversity Myth.

Well, everything added together makes Facebook nice but not my type. So I’ve decided to keep my Facebook as simple and basic as possible.
